More than 10 million Americans throughout the United States suffer from asthma. Asthma is very common, with doctors considering it to be a new epidemic.

Asthma causes the airways in the lungs to swell, throw out thick mucus and, over time, spasm. The swelling that takes place will make the airways smaller, making it difficult to breathe. The first asthma attack that you experience may include congestion, pain, wheezing, shortness of breath, dryness in the mouth, coughing, and fever.

Just about anything can set off an asthma attack. The more common triggers include allergies, an upper respiratory infection, stress, overexertion, or even a poor diet. Out of all the triggers, allergies tend to be the most common.
In most cases, asthma attacks are the result of exposure to things such as smoke, pollen, gas odors, and even automotive exhaust. Although an asthma attack can be quite stressful, there are options available to help prevent it from overtaking your life. If you’ve been diagnosed with asthma by a medical doctor, ask lots of questions and find out what you should be doing to manage your condition.
You can sometimes help to avoid an asthma attack by using natural products like vitamins and nutritional supplements. There’s no reason to avoid enjoying your usual activities. It can often be managed successfully although it might slow you down somewhat.
